WELCOME

I love to eat. And anyone who knows me knows that I also love to feed. Unfortunately I'm not always in close proximity to the people who love to eat my food. So this website is for those who miss my cooking, or for those who are feeling adventurous and are looking for some new flavor in their kitchen.
A lot of these recipes are family recipes and you will be hard pressed to find them in your friendly neighborhood Indian restaurant. They are also pretty regionally specific, so if you happen to find yourself in a "Marathi" restaurant in Mumbai (the most culturally diverse city in India), you may see some familiar fare on the menu.
From time to time I will stray from Indian food; Thai, Italian, Middle Eastern. But I always find my way back!
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do.
Eat Happy!

Brussel Sprouts

Brussel sprouts are another one of my favorite vegetables (shhhh don't tell the green beans!) And usually I just roast them with salt and pepper and then top them with some olive oil and toasted garlic. But this recipe packs a nice spicy punch. Tastes great with rice or with some roti. If you are a brussel sprouts hater, I WILL conquer you, and promise you this recipe will turn you into a lover :)
Ingredients:
1 lb of brussel sprouts, halved
1 onion, chopped
Whole spices (1/2 tsp mustard seeds)
Pinch of asofoteida (a.k.a. hing)
1/4 tsp turmeric pwd
1/2 tsp chili pwd
1/2 tsp coriander pwd
1/2 tsp fennel pwd
1/2 tsp tava fry masala/garam masala pwd
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp oil

Cook:
Heat oil on medium heat.
Add mustard seeds and hing.
Once popped, add onions and saute until golden brown.
Add turmeric, chili, coriander and fennel pwds and saute. Add 1 tbsp water if sticking to bottom of pot.
Add brussel sprouts and saute so spices and onions spread evenly.
Add 1/4 cup of water, reduce flame and cover.
Check every 5-7 mins and mix to make sure not sticking to bottom of pot. If sticking, add a couple of tbsp of water.
Once cooked, add salt, sugar and tava fry masala. Adjust according to taste.
ENJOY!
