WELCOME

I love to eat. And anyone who knows me knows that I also love to feed. Unfortunately I'm not always in close proximity to the people who love to eat my food. So this website is for those who miss my cooking, or for those who are feeling adventurous and are looking for some new flavor in their kitchen.
A lot of these recipes are family recipes and you will be hard pressed to find them in your friendly neighborhood Indian restaurant. They are also pretty regionally specific, so if you happen to find yourself in a "Marathi" restaurant in Mumbai (the most culturally diverse city in India), you may see some familiar fare on the menu.
From time to time I will stray from Indian food; Thai, Italian, Middle Eastern. But I always find my way back!
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do.
Eat Happy!

Spicy Green Beans

I love green beans. In all forms, flavors, shapes and sizes. If somebody made a green bean dessert, I would be the first to try it. Hmmmm, I think an experiment is in order! This is a great spicy green bean dish. If you feel like getting an even bigger protein punch, another traditional dish is mixing green beans w/ leftover matki usal.

Ingredients:
1 lb of green beans, chopped in small round sections
Whole spices (1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds)
Pinch of asofoteida (a.k.a. hing)
1/2 tsp turmeric pwd
1 tsp chili pwd
1 tsp coriander pwd
1/2 tsp fennel pwd
1/2 tsp cinnamon pwd
1/2 tsp tava fry masala
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp oil

Cook:
Heat oil on medium heat.
Add whole spices and hing.
Once popped, add beans and saute for a few mins.
Add turmeric, chili, coriander, fennel and cinnamon pwds and mix well with beans.
Add 2 tbsp water and cover.
Check every 5-7 mins and mix/add few tbsp of water if not cooked or are sticking to bottom of pot.
(If adding matki, add when green beans almost cooked)
Once done, add salt, sugar and tava fry masala. Adjust according to taste.
ENJOY!
