This is often the first thing I get my mom to make for me when I get home, so you can imagine how much I love this dish... yummmmm!
Ingredients:
1 lb peeled, deveined shrimp
2 medium onions, diced
1 small potato, diced
2 tbsp garlic paste (homemade or store bought)
2 cloves crushed garlic
2 tsp chili pwd
3/4 tsp turmeric pwd
1/4 tsp fennel pwd
1/2 tsp coriander pwd
Pinch of asofoteida (a.k.a. hing)
1 tsp tamarind paste
3 tbsp coconut milk pwd (3/4 cup coconut milk)
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp oil
Preparation:
Marinate shrimp, onion and potatoes in garlic paste, tamarind paste, chili, turmeric, coriander and fennel pwds and salt for at least one hour.

Heat oil on high heat.
Add hing and crushed garlic.
Once garlic is golden brown, add shrimp mixture and 1 cup water.
Boil and add water until shrimp is done.
Add coconut milk and salt if necessary.
Garnish w/ fresh chopped cilantro.
