WELCOME

I love to eat. And anyone who knows me knows that I also love to feed. Unfortunately I'm not always in close proximity to the people who love to eat my food. So this website is for those who miss my cooking, or for those who are feeling adventurous and are looking for some new flavor in their kitchen.
A lot of these recipes are family recipes and you will be hard pressed to find them in your friendly neighborhood Indian restaurant. They are also pretty regionally specific, so if you happen to find yourself in a "Marathi" restaurant in Mumbai (the most culturally diverse city in India), you may see some familiar fare on the menu.
From time to time I will stray from Indian food; Thai, Italian, Middle Eastern. But I always find my way back!
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do.
Eat Happy!

Shrimp in Wine Sauce

I'm pretty sure this is not an Indian recipe, but it is good. It might be something my Mom made up. I'm not sure where she got the recipe, but it is great. And very healthy too; lots of veggies. Veggies can be replaced w/ any others you may like; brocoli, sugar snap peas, green beans, green peas, etc.

Ingredients:
1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 green pepper, diced
1 onion, diced
1/2 pint cherry tomatoes, quartered
3 stalks scallions, chopped
8 oz package mushrooms, sliced
1 small can baby corn
1/2 small can of waterchestnuts
1/2 small can of bamboo shoots
1 stalk celery, chopped
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 jalapeno, chopped
2 tsp Tobasco sauce
3 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, divided
3 tbsp red wine
2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp chili pwd
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp crushed black pepper
1 tbsp oil

Preparation:
Marinate shrimp in Tobasco and 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce for at least one hour.

Cook:
Heat oil on medium heat.
Add onions, garlic and white part of scallions and saute until transparent.
Add chili pwd and wine and saute to allow some of the alcohol to evaporate.
Add green pepper, tomatoes, mushrooms, baby corn, waterchestnuts, celery, bamboo shoots, jalapeno and remaining scallions. Add remaining Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, saute and cover.
Add marinated shrimp and cover.
Check every 5-7 mins until shrimp is done.
Add salt and black pepper once done.
ENJOY!
