WELCOME

I love to eat. And anyone who knows me knows that I also love to feed. Unfortunately I'm not always in close proximity to the people who love to eat my food. So this website is for those who miss my cooking, or for those who are feeling adventurous and are looking for some new flavor in their kitchen.
A lot of these recipes are family recipes and you will be hard pressed to find them in your friendly neighborhood Indian restaurant. They are also pretty regionally specific, so if you happen to find yourself in a "Marathi" restaurant in Mumbai (the most culturally diverse city in India), you may see some familiar fare on the menu.
From time to time I will stray from Indian food; Thai, Italian, Middle Eastern. But I always find my way back!
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I do.

Fish Fry

This recipe works great for any white fish that has a pretty neutral flavor, so the spices don't fight it too much. I usually use tilapia, but if you want to try a more meaty fish, go for it!

Ingredients:
1 lb fillets of tilapia
1/2 tsp turmeric pwd
1 tsp chili pwd
1 tsp tamarind paste mixed
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp oil

1/2 cup rice flour
1/4 cup semolina flour

Preparation:
Blend turmeric, chili pwds, tamarind paste, garlic cloves and salt w/ 2 tbsp of hot water until a thick paste.
Marinate the fish in this masala for a couple of hours.
Mix the rice flour and semolina flour with a tsp of salt.
Before you begin frying each piece of fish, dip in the flour mixture and make sure it coats each side evenly. This will make the fish nice and crispy.

Cook:
Heat oil on low-medium heat in frying pan.
Add fish to pan and fry one side for 5 mins or until fish starts to turn opaque.
Only flip once, since tilapia is very delicate.
Cook on other side for another 5 mins.
ENJOY!
